Chapter 12: Hostile Triangles:

Ours or Theirs?

At 11:45 p.m. on Friday May 8, 2009, a 49-year-old man named Derek Jones was alerted by his two dogs barking in his backyard in north Georgia, where his 10-year-old son was camping outside with a neighbor’s child in a tent. Jones quickly noticed a very large triangular aircraft, with lights at each apex, moving silently almost directly above him. The craft had a yellowish light at each of the three points, and a large bluish-white light in the middle.

Behind the large triangle object were four smaller objects, each emitting their own sourced lights of various changing colors. Two were egg-shaped and two were round. The bluish white lights would change to a greenish color then back to white, then bluish again. These objects appeared to be much smaller than the triangle, but Jones acknowledged that it is difficult to estimate size and altitude at night. The smaller objects moved soundlessly, displaying erratic up and down patterns of darting movements away from the large triangle object and occasionally going down into the woods behind his backyard. (The yard has a grassy area 75 yards from the house leading to a wooded tree line.) The smaller objects repeatedly descended behind the tree line (out of the witness line of sight) for 2–3 seconds, then flew back up to the large triangle object in the sky. Jones insisted that the objects showed no means of propulsion.

Jones estimated that the large triangular craft, which was 60 to a few hundred feet above him, was about 300 feet in length. It made no sound. He could see stars on the bottom of the object as if an attempt was made to camouflage the craft, but at the same time he could see the clear outline of the triangle due to the lights of his house and those in the neighborhood. Jones observed the objects making several maneuvers that he “knows are not possible in modern aviation capabilities.” When they darted below the tree line, he was not sure if they landed or not.

Jones attempted to record the object, first by videotaping it and subsequently by photographing it with a digital camera, but during both attempts the camera batteries died even though both instruments had been functioning earlier.

When Jones decided to point his million-candle-power spotlight beam at the large triangle, he received an immediate response. From the front center section of the triangle came an intense bluish white light about two-to-three feet in diameter that struck him for about three seconds. The witness turned his back and ducked to shield himself from the bright light. The beam emitted an intense heat that caused a burning sensation on Jones’ neck and shoulders. He quickly dashed back into his house.

Jones continued to watch the spectacular panorama from the safety of his own home.
